The Hijack of Boeing One documentary draws on research and pre-production undertaken by John Earnshaw for his documentary concept “The Search For Boeing One” and dates back to the early ‘80s when Earnshaw formed Mallard Productions to produce his film. You can learn more about Boeing One and the mystery of its disappearance HERE.
The production is planned in broadcast and sell-thru DVD versions.
Filming for “The Search For Boeing One” started in the mid 1980s and continued to the early 1990s. The production was finally abandoned when, after frustrating Earnshaw’s efforts for four years, the Department of Conservation, who controlled the filming location, began conspiring with a rival production company that was plagiarizing Earnshaw’s work.
In essence, a decade of Earnshaw’s research, together with his documentary concept was gratuitously hijacked. From these events came the inspiration for Jon Smyth’s concept: “The Hijack of Boeing One”.
In 2001, after a devastating high court judgment that, in effect, ratified years of conniving and abuse of statutory power by parties within the government departments of Defence and Conservation, Smyth began filming content for what was now a story about the “hijack” of Earnshaw’s ill-fated “Search for Boeing One” documentary project and the machinations behind its demise.
The Hijack of Boeing One documentary is ready for post production to begin and post production funding is sought from interested sponsors and / or venture partners.
A feature film script based on the book version of The Hijack of Boeing One is also being considered.
